An Apprenticeship, also known as a job with training, is a good way to earn money in a real job while you learn and gain a valued qualification at the same time. Apprenticeships are available from Level 2 up to Level 7.
Most of the training is on-the-job, working with a mentor to learn job specific skills in the workplace. You will also be required to cover 20% of your contracted working hours as Off The Job (OTJ) training. This may be delivered away from the workplace, e.g. in college through 'day release' arrangements.

All Apprenticeship starts from 1 August 2020 will be on new standards, which have been designed in collaboration with employers, to ensure apprentices learn industry relevant skills while completing their qualification.
Apprenticeship standards begin with a foundation phase, which includes the development of skills, knowledge and behaviours. Towards the end of the qualification, all apprentices must take an end point assessment.
