University Level
Why choose us?
Whether you're from the local area and don’t feel ready to leave yet, or if you're interested in joining us from further afield, here are our top 10 reasons to choose us for your University Level studies:
1. Competitive course fees
Our fees are significantly less than the cost of going straight to university - £6,165 each year for full-time students; compared to £9,275 for a standard full-time course at university.
2. Equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree
Our Higher Nationals are designed for specific types of jobs and are equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree - this can be topped up to a full degree with a final year at university.
3. Exceptional facilities and teaching resources
Including an award-winning Digital and Academic Resources Centre and dedicated study area for University Level students.
4. Access to The University of Northampton library
Thanks to our partnership with The University of Northampton, our University Level students have access to the UoN learning hub and all UoN study spaces.
5. Industry-trained staff
Many of our teachers are highly trained professionals from industry with specific knowledge of their subject area.
6. A different method of assessment
Continuous assessment instead of practical assignments.
7. Study as part of a small group
A supportive learning environment where students feel more comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas with peers.
8. Benefit from one-to-one support
Develop your independent learning skills.
9. Helpful advice and guidance
With individual and small group support available when you need it, including support from our careers team.
10. Access to local employers and subject-specialists
Experts regularly visit the College to deliver highly relevant workshops to our University Level students.
‘High quality teaching that exceeds national standards’
Northampton College currently holds a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) award at silver level.
This is a national recognition of the quality of the teaching, student experience and value for money of our University Level programmes, which the TEF judging panel deemed ‘very high quality’.
Other key findings from the TEF judging panel include:
- The College provides quality, choice and opportunity, tailored to its locality and to the characteristics of its students.
- The College strives to deliver high-quality higher education for the benefit of the students and employers.
- The College’s extensive links with external bodies, such as local councils and business support organisations, were helping to inform its course content and delivery.
