This course provides a basic introduction to working in Health and Social Care and Childcare and offers opportunities for moving on to further study. The method of learning is through classroom based activity.
The choice of units gives a broad overview of what it's like to work in Health and Social Care or Childcare and of the different areas.

Who is this course for?
This course is ideal if you have an interest in working in the Health and Social Care sector or childcare work and wish to gain a Level 1 qualification in Health and Social Care and Childcare. This course will not qualify you to work with children but will prepare you for further training.

Your Study Programme
If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses). Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs. As part of your study programme you will enhance your Digital Skills through weekly sessions to get you ready for employment.

There is no specific equipment or uniform required for this course, however you will require stationery, including a notebook, a diary, lever arch folders to file your work in and pens.

Progression and Career Opportunities
After successful completion of this course you could progress onto the CACHE Level 2 Certificate Working with Children in Primary or Early Years Settings or Level 2 Health and Social Care.
