Northampton College is the 5th best performing college in the country!*
Data released as part of the latest 2022/23 National Achievement Rates Tables (NART) shows Northampton College is ranked 5th out of 225 colleges - up from 7th in the previous year’s rankings.
The rating places us in the top 2% of colleges in the country and cements our position as the leading provider of Further Education in the South East Midlands, thanks to a continued and determined focus on ensuring each individual student reaches their full potential.
Northampton College is officially rated by Ofsted as ‘Good with Outstanding features’ – with a £4.75million Advanced Construction Engineering Centre and a state-of-the-art Digital Academy both at Booth Lane.
National Apprenticeship data has also revealed an overall achievement rate of 63.8% for apprentices which is substantially above the national rate of 54.3%.

What have we done to achieve this?
- Designed an ambitious curriculum that aligns with local and regional skills priorities, ensuring clear career pathways and empowering students for success in their chosen careers
- Implemented inspirational teaching, learning and assessment practice
- Offered outstanding care and support for students through our School of Academic and Vocational Support (SAVS)
- Effective target setting and progress monitoring to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students, particularly those aged 16-18.
- Rapid and specific intervention to bridge gaps
- Achieved high overall pass rates for 96% of students, with 94% of students progressing on to further study or employment
- Achieved credible results for GCSE English and maths in 2023 with pass rates of 96.5% and 96.2% respectively
- Increased collaboration between employers, assessors, teachers and apprentices.
