An up-and-coming actor from Northampton has revisited his childhood by starring alongside Alan Carr in a TV sitcom charting the Chattyman’s early life growing up on an Eastern District housing estate.
Josiah Eloi, a former acting student at Northampton College, landed a plum role alongside the comic in the hit ITV show Changing Ends.
He plays the character of ‘Arthur’ – a Cobblers fan who lives near a young Alan – in a role he says was “absolutely perfect” for him.
He added: “I literally grew up two streets away from where Alan Carr used to live so to have the chance to play his neighbour in the streets where I used to run around as a kid was unbelievable.
“I have done commercials before but this was my first actual TV show. It’s a hard wall to break down but hopefully this will pave the way for more opportunities in the future. It was an incredible experience, I had my own trailer with my name on it, I got picked up in a fancy car and was given a hot stone massage while we drove to filming.
“Working with Alan and the rest of the cast was fantastic. We had such a great time and were given complete licence to go crazy and have fun with the script as we saw fit.”
Having left Northampton College in 2017, Josiah went on to study drama and acting at UWE Bristol, graduating in 2020 and slowly making his way into the profession ever since.
