On Monday 2 March, Labour's Shadow Minister for Universities, Science and Skills, Liam Byrne MP visited Northampton College to meet the Principal and find out more about skills delivery in the further education sector.
He was given a tour of the state of the art facilities at the College's Booth Lane campus and spoke to students in the library, and in IT, media and communication classes about Labour's plans for helping students to fund their education, a proposed reduction in tuition fees and an increase of maintenance grants to cover students' living costs. He was accompanied by Sally Keeble, Labour's candidate for Northampton North.
Mr Byrne talked to students about the significance of Apprenticeships and how important they were as a route into a job with training that is highly valued by employers. He also encouraged students to use their vote at the general election in May to make sure their voice was heard.
