The principal of Northampton College has praised the incredible adaptability of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, with today's GCSE results highlighting the impact of their continued hard work and resilience.

The results revealed that 99.9 per cent of students who sat an English Language assessment received a pass grade, while 99.7 per cent of those sitting a maths assessment also passed.

Principal of Northampton College, Pat Brennan-Barrett, said: We are thrilled to see so many people now able to progress and move on in their lives having achieved the grades they need at GCSE during what has been a particularly challenging year.

Despite the upheaval and uncertainty caused by the various lockdowns ' which saw students switch to a remote learning model ' their incredible adaptability has stood them in good stead and their resilience and willingness to work hard has paid off.

The flexibility and appetite for learning demonstrated by this year group will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

The results confirm the college's status as the leading provider of further education in the South East Midlands region, with the college also rated good' with outstanding features' by Ofsted.

Anatolie Rezneac achieved a Grade 8 in maths and said: I really enjoyed my time at college. The teachers and other students made it an excellent place to learn. Initially I found learning from home difficult but we worked through it together and ended up performing well.

I am now looking to study IT and hope to find employment locally in Northampton.

Northampton College will honour all offers already made to study at any of its three campuses ' at Booth Lane, Lower Mounts or Daventry ' based on Teacher Assessed Grades.

The college will be holding a series of virtual advice sessions on Zoom for any student unsure of their future plans.
