We have all seen the enormous gratitude for Health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and it is a career that allows you to make a real difference to your community. Nurses form the largest group of staff in the NHS but there are other professions that can also be considered such as Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, Paramedic science, Physiotherapy and many more.
If you are caring, compassionate and have a commitment to helping people, you will find a role within the Health care profession that suits you. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form, work courageously and display compassion.
To work in many of the healthcare professions in the NHS, you must be registered with the specific profession councils and organisations and most of these require a degree in a chosen subject. Our one-year Access to Higher Education pathway in Health Professions could help you to successfully move on to achieving a degree or diploma at university if you are a mature student and our BTEC programmes could help those aged 16+.
