In this course you will improve your literacy skills in English. You will concentrate on the skill of writing but will also practise speaking and listening and reading. You will build upon existing knowledge and confidence to enable you to produce more complex pieces of writing.
You will study English vocabulary and language at Level 1 (intermediate level). You will learn about the language used in different types of text. In particular, you will work on spelling, grammar, punctuation and writing complex sentences using Level 1 grammar. You will start to use longer, more complex sentences in your own writing. You will write more complex texts of different kinds eg articles, blogs, emails, letters.

Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at people whose first language is not English and who have an intermediate level of English skills in writing.

How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed via formal examination at the end of the course.

General info
There are no specific materials needed for the course but please bring pens, paper and a folder to organise your work to every lesson. You might find an English monolingual or a bi-lingual dictionary useful.

Entry Requirements for new students
All new students must attend an ESOL Initial Assessment and be assessed as working towards Level 1. The assessment which can take up to ninety minutes.
