If so, this exciting new technical qualification will give you the foundation you need to set you on the path towards your ideal career. You will complete a Level 3 Technical Qualification in Accounting with the occupational specialisms being the Assistant Accountant. The Accounting T-Level aims to develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of accounting occupations. Career options may include, finance officer, accounting technician, payroll administrator and payroll manager.

Included alongside the technical qualification is the completion of an industrial placement consisting of day release, working within the accounting industries. The industry placement enables students to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to work successfully in this industry and be work-ready at the end of the course.

  • What will I study?

    This T Level qualification, which combines learning in the classroom with gaining vital on-the-job experience is ideal if you have an interest in Accounting.

    Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

    • Fundamentals of financial accounting, an understanding of elementary financial principles, concepts and practices and how this content links to relevant accounting, bookkeeping, and business mathematics requirements.
    • Professionalism and ethics - an understanding of professional conduct and responsibilities in the workplace and ethical dilemmas for the individual, organisation and professional.
    • Data driven innovation and analytics and design thinking, an awareness of key requirements of a data governance framework and understand the main contemporary visualisation tools and when they are best used to support decision making.
  • Who is this course for?

    This course is ideal if you have an interest in business and finance and wish to gain a Level 3 technical qualification in Accounting.

  • Your Study Programme

    If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme.

    We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    There are four main progression routes following the completion of T Levels. Following the completion of the T level in Accounting you may go on to:

    Skilled employment within the accounting sector inclusive of roles such as a finance officer, accounting technician, payroll administrator and payroll manager.

    Higher Level apprenticeships at Level 4 and above which may progress you into careers such as senior payroll administrator, senior payroll officer, senior accounting office and payroll manager.

    Higher Education as UCAS points have been awarded to T-Levels allowing progression routes onto Higher Educational pathways.

  • Entry Requirements for new students

    Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and maths. English and maths must be at grade 5.

These events have proved very successful in ensuring students and their families see the best of what the college has to offer such as our inspirational teaching areas, teachers, library facilities and places to eat.
