This is a fantastic, exciting industry to work in. It is customer focused, diverse and sociable and the Level 1 Beauty Therapy course will give you the opportunity to start developing some of the skills needed to work in this fashion dominated industry. It will give you an insight into working as a therapist and start to develop some practical skills in a salon environment, before progressing on to a Level 2 qualification. The method of learning is through a mixture of theory and practical sessions.

Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for you if you have an interest in beauty therapy and wish to gain a Level 1 qualifiction in beauty therapy.

How is the course assessed?
Assessing is via assignments, written papers and practical work.
Personal appearance is part of the awarding body's criteria. You will be expected to adhere to a strict dress code: no jewellery, long hair tied back, short un-varnished nails and a specified uniform to be worn.

Your Study Programme
If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme.
We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 (C) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses).
Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

General info
The Lower Mounts Northampton option is just for Beauty Therapy but if you live in Daventry and would like to study some Hairdressing at Level 1 at the Daventry Campus - please apply for the Daventry option as it will cover both Hair and Beauty.
You will be required to purchase a uniform, equipment and textbook prior to enrolment costing approximately £280.00
Students from low income households will be able to apply to the Bursary fund for assistance with the costs of equipment and uniform.

Progression and Career Opportunities
After successful completion of this course, you could progress to Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or Media Make-up Artistry. Ultimately, you could progress to a level 3 course and then into industry working as a beauty therapist, nail technician or make-up artist.
