Requirements for staff and students
If you develop any of the following symptoms of COVID-19, you must remain at home for at least 10 days and get a test:
- A new continuous cough
- A high temperature
- A loss or change to sense of smell or taste.
Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119. Only get a test if you have coronavirus symptoms or have been asked to get tested.
Staff and students will only be allowed back on college premises after they have self-isolated in accordance with Government guidance or after confirmation of a negative test result.
All other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.
If you/your household are self-isolating
Throughout the period of self-isolation, you and all other household members must not:
- Go to work/public places - work from home where possible
- Use public transport or taxis
- Go out to get food and medicine – you can order it online/by phone, or ask someone to bring it to your doorstep
- Have visitors in your home (including friends and family) – except for people providing essential care
- Go out to exercise – exercise at home or in your garden, if you have one
Household members staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community.
If you are able to, you should move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period.

If you have travelled outside of the UK in the last 14 days
If you are travelling in to England from any country currently exempt from English border and quarantine restrictions (use the link below to access the current exempt list), you do not need to provide your journey or contact details, or self-isolate for 14 days after you arrive.
The Government is continuing to review the conditions in these exempt countries and territories. If they worsen, self-isolation requirements will be reintroduced.
