Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Last review: 27 November 2020

As you will no doubt be aware, Northamptonshire will enter tier 2 restrictions under the Government's COVID winter plan, from Wednesday, 2 December 2020.

To find out what you can and cannot do within tier 2, please click here.

In line with Government advice, schools, colleges and universities will remain open.

PLEASE NOTE: Across all tiers, everyone should attend college as normal, unless they are self-isolating.

It is our responsibility to provide a COVID-safe environment, which is highly-controlled to ensure the safety and well-being of our college community.

COVID-19 case numbers at Northampton College remain low because of the clear safety steps we have taken and the responsible behaviour of our community.

Of course, we’re being guided by the advice of the Government and Public Health England, so these arrangements may change and we will alert all staff, students and parents of any changes at the earliest opportunity.

All updates will be communicated by text and email to staff, students and parents where appropriate – if you need to update your contact details, please click here.

College safety measures

All students attending college in person must abide by our COVID code of conduct, respect all social distancing rules and interact with others in a safe and appropriate way.

To help keep everyone safe, the rules in college are quite simple:

  • Wear your face covering correctly whilst in college buildings
  • Keep a safe minimum distance of 2m at all times on campus
  • Wash your hands regularly for at least twenty seconds and sanitise hands as you enter/exit buildings
  • Sanitise your workspace or desk and any shared equipment before and after use
  • Smoking and vaping is not permitted
  • Students are to remain in their classrooms or designated areas during breaks to avoid unnecessary movement around the campus
  • Have your temperature taken on arrival
  • Cough/sneeze into a tissue or your elbow, appropriately disposing of tissues after use.

We would like to thank you for your support in helping us to safeguard the good health of our college community, and appreciate your continued support during this time. The Northampton College community is strong and, by working closely together, we will make sure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

The College has prepared a full risk assessment, which you can view here, and implemented associated measures to ensure we comply with government guidelines.

Whilst we have taken significant steps to adapt how we work, we will be reminding everyone who enters our campus of the role we all have in safeguarding the health of our staff, students and visitors when in college.

Hiring of college facilities

Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College has taken the decision to cancel all external lettings of college facilities for the foreseeable future.

We will update our Facilities for Hire page once these restrictions are lifted, and external bookings can resume.
