You may not have been inside a classroom for years but you won't be alone if you sign up for a course with us. We have over 5,700 adult students and there has never been a better time to think about taking on a new challenge, returning to education after a break or furthering your career.

The Skills Centre

Anyone over the age of 18 can study one of our part-time maths, English or IT courses at The Skills Centre NC, and benefit from our relaxed and friendly environment and qualified tutors.

If you are interested in our courses, you will need to book an advice appointment so we can assess your current skill level and requirements. We take in to account your current knowledge of IT, what you would like to achieve and your level of ability in spoken and written English.

Support home-learning of children

The recent Covid-19 pandemic has bought learning inside the home environment into sharp focus. Many parents have experienced first-hand just how difficult it can be to support the learning of children and young adults. Our courses will help develop your confidence and skills so that you are able to confidently support children’s learning.

We will combine paper-based lesson work with quizzes, games, tactile resources and computer programmes to support you. You will not be singled out or made to feel embarrassed about your learning.

Our learners frequently tell us how much they enjoy their classes, how their lessons are stimulating and interesting and about how pleased they feel having given education another go. 91% of adult learner achieve their qualifications at our college and are able to take on learning at the next level, preparing for university or gaining skilled employment. Many of our learners tell us that they use what they learn in college to support their children’s development through school.
